Hello everyone, when it comes to creative story inspiration that is horror genre and Black Day (Korean: 블랙데이) - one of the unofficial holidays that is observed on April 14 each year, do you think Black Day holiday is a good inspiration for the horror-themed settings and genre for stories, films, video games, novels, and other creative works?
Top Comment: Black Day is as much an unofficial holiday in Korea as Pi Day (3.14) is an unofficial holiday - a lot of people know about it and even do something about it (eating jjajanmyeon vs eating pie) but also a lot of people don't know about it or even if they knew, don't care about it. It's particularly overblown thing outside of Korea because a lot of foreigners and gyopos visited Korea and 90% of the times usually hang out with demographics of a certain age brackets, got something that's commonly done among some people in that age bracket (but not even everyone in that age bracket), and then blew it up as something very uniquely Korean - which it is true, but also super overblown on the internet among the foreigner circles because it's interesting, unique and not offensive. Now, among Koreans, there is no hint of horror associated with black day - it's more of a comedic self-pitying relief for being a single. People wouldn't immediately associate "black day" with "horror". But creativity is creativity. If you can create something out if, why not?

TIL that in South Korea, there is a day called Black Day (April 14), where single people eat noodles to lament their loneliness. This is in opposition to Valentine's Day and White Day, the days for couples.

Top Comment: FYI: for anyone that doesn't know White day is March 14th and held as a "reciprocation" day to respond to a Valentine. As some people are given gifts from multiple possible suitors and White Day let's them know which person was chosen.
